James Suckling Praises Reserva Martí 2009 and Lignum Red 2014

The prestigious American website has given high marks to some Albet i Noya, wines, particularly Reserva Martí 2009 and Lignum Red 2014, which both scored 92 points.

Suckling emphasised the “markedly spicy nature” of the Reserva Martí 2009, made mainly with Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah grapes, as well as a “very good integration of ripe fruit and tannins.” Parker’s former collaborator also appreciated how fresh the Lignum 2014 is, despite being a mature wine that spends over 12 months in a cask.

As far as sparkling wines go, Suckling gave 91 points to Brut Nature Efecte, a Classic Penedès made with Xarel·lo, Macabeo, Parellada and Chardonnay, aged for over 30 months, and he highlighted its "delicate hint of apple and pear.”

The white wines Xarel·lo Curios3 Macabeus and El Fanio also scored over 90 points in the American publication. James Suckling is a former writer with Wine Spectator and he worked with Robert Parker for many years. He is considered one of the most influential wine and cigar critics in the world.
