Come to Albet i Noya to have an appetiser!

Welcome spring!
Starting now, you can come to Albet i Noya to visit the winery... or simply come to have an appetiser with our organic wines, Espinaler products, and the best views of the Penedès.

This season of the year is one of the most significant for wineries and winemakers around the world, as it’s the time that the vineyards start to come to life. The vines start to sprout and the first leaves appear, as the landscape turns green and full of life.

It’s also the start of nice weather and a time to enjoy outdoor activities to the utmost!
For all of these reasons, and so that you can enjoy one of the loveliest landscapes in the Penedès, we have gotten a space ready in the garden of the estate where you can enjoy an appetiser looking out over a sea of vineyards. You can sit quietly, order a glass of the wine you like the best, along with a tapa of fuet sausage, cheese, or Espinaler products.

From Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Weekends and holidays that we are open, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m
No previous reservation necessary.

A New Gold Medal at Mundus Vini in Germany

The Reserva Martí 2011 continues to do us proud. The latest vintage of this iconic Albet i Noya wine, which came out at the beginning of the year, has won another gold medal, this time at the German publisher Meininger’s spring wine tasting, within the international Mundus Vini contest. This spring tasting is considered the opener for the Prowein fair, which will be held in Düsseldorf from 18 to 20th March, where we will once again be present.

A few days ago, we told you the story behind this wine, made for the first time in the year 1994, and that because it was the winery’s first blended wine, it’s dedicated to Martí Albet i Esteve, Josep Maria Albet i Noya’s son.

The Reserva Martí 2011 is made from the best selection of Cabernet Sauvignon, Ull de Llebre, Merlot, and Syrah varieties of grapes. It is aged for 2 years in new French oak casks, and then it rests for 4 years in the bottle. A few weeks ago, it also won a gold medal at the Milléssime Bio fair in Montpellier, and in September it won an award at the same Mundus Vini competition.

What’s behind Martí’s hands?

Presenting the latest vintage of our iconic wine The Reserva Martí 2011

At the time of the 1994 grape harvest, Martí Albet i Esteve was a toddler just over two years old who had just started nursery school. His father, Josep Maria Albet i Noya, had set out 15 years earlier on the adventure of making organic wines and had founded the ALBET I NOYA winery. Up until then, they had only made single-variety wines using Xarel·lo, Ull de llebre, Macabeu, Chardonnay or Cabernet grapes, and these wines were basically exported to countries such as Germany, Switzerland, or Denmark. But in 1994 the time came to make the first blended wine, the Reserva Martí, made with Cabernet Sauvignon, Ull de Llebre, and Merlot grapes. “It was my first blended wine, and I dedicated it to my son, because in a way he was also the first blend that his mother and I had made together,” explains Josep Maria Albet, who took the small child’s handprints and put them on the wine labels.

Now, 25 years later, Martí Albet Esteve has a degree in oenology from Universitat Rovira i Virgili and he heads the vineyard department of the family business, after having spent some time at wine cellars in France and California. He says about his wine: “the Reserva Martí showed and continues to show us that the Penedès is not only a land of white and sparkling wines, but that it can also produce great red wines.”

About 4,000 bottles of Reserva Martí are made each year. The 2011 vintage is made with a selection of Cabernet, Tempranillo, Merlot, and Syrah grapes coming from the winery’s best vineyards. The wine has been aged for 24 months in new French oak casks, and then left to rest in the bottle for 4 years. A long period of refinement has rounded out the wine, rounding it out even more if one has the patience to keep it in good conditions. It’s one of the winery’s most highly prized wines, and this 2011 vintage has already won a gold medal at Mundus Vini in Germany and another at Millésime Bio, held recently in Montpellier.

The Reserva Martí 2011 takes the gold medal at Millésime Bio

The Reserva Martí 2011 is shining again with the gold medal it received at the international Millésime Bio competition. And it certainly did shine bright! It was the only wine from DO Penedès (Designation of Origin Penedès) to win a gold medal at this fair that will be held in Montpellier from 29thto 31st January, and which will bring together the main producers of organic wine from all over the world.

The Reserva Martí 2011 is one of ourflagship wines. We’ve been making it since1994, and it’s in homage to Josep Maria Albet’s son, Martí Albet Esteve.

The 2011 lot was made with Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo, Merlo and Syrah grapes, aged for 24 months in new French oak caskets, and 5 years in bottles.
It has won gold medals at events such as Mundus Vini, Decanter, Gilbert & Gaillard or Vinum Nature.

It’s not the only one of our wines to win a medal at Millésime Bio. In the Silver category, we have the white wine El Fanio (made only from the Xarel·lo variety, aged for 6 months inacacia wood casks and cement eggs).
The winery’s export department will be present at the Millésime Bio fair from 29th to 31stJanuary in Montpellier. You will find us in pavilion A4, at stand 706.
